Oh, come now, like you all weren't expecting me to be one of the first back on vu.
It took me forever to dig up my old laptop from one of the closets (there really are too many of them, but I own far too many clothes for just one, you know). It didn't work very well after three years of no use so I ended up buying a new one. They have so many different colors now. There's even a model that comes in lavender and brown.
I got the pink one.
Plus, I beat out Rita Skeeter to do the article on the trials and Azkaban release dates. I'm brimming with pride. You should have seen the look on her pinchy little face! Magical face-lifts have done wonders for her.
If anyone's hanging about Sussex and wants to come up and celebrate with me, do let me know so I can let down some of the protective wards on the house.
I finally got my hands on some Extendable Ears so look out Hogwarts! My main new year's resolution is to go above and beyond the call of duty in my pursuit to circulate the truth. I'm going to find out everything there is to know, so save yourself the trouble and confess now.
Mum was around for Christmas, but she had a bit too much to drink and ended up being passed out on the couch all night. And then she was gone the next day, to Paris, I think. The note was a bit damp and hard to read.
And, as usual, I've loaded myself down with presents for when I get back to Hogwarts. I've even got one for Fred Weasley, since he's awake and all. And Mandy, too. I wonder if I should buy them a joint present, like the one I got for Neville and That Git Commonly Known As Finch-Fletchley.
Oh, poo. I'm already breaking a resolution. I meant to say "like the one I got for Neville and Justin." There, that's better.
See you all in three days! Plenty of time to shop.
You know, I never realize how many clothes I have until I try to pack them all into what is supposed to be a one-size-fits-all suitcase and the suitcase can't fit all my clothes!
In any case, I have begun preparations for my trip to India because Parvati's finally gotten Colin to say yes and there is no bloody way I'm arriving late and missing prime matchmaking opportunities. I'll be leaving some time this week. After I go out and buy new film for my camera, of course. I used up my last roll on the party.
Well, okay, now she's not. But she was! And she brought presents since I was at school for my birthday. She also brought Rodney and they hot tubbed in the backyard all night. I'm pretty sure they've gone off to France, but I can't be certain.
I took Essie with me shopping so she could carry my bags, but it ended up being more than she could handle and she dropped some of the stuff on the ground. I was going to be very cross with her, but she looked so upset that I just let it go and bought her a coffee cake. I hope the other house elves won't be jealous.
Which reminds me, what's this I hear about Ron and Harry embracing their inner pouf? I can't believe I missed this!
The end of another chapter in my illustrious life. I'm quite sad to be leaving as it's been such a wonderful school year, but I'll keep all of you close in my heart. Well. Some of you. I'll hope the rest of you transfer schools over the summer.
And no, Neville, I won't tell you what your present is before I send it to you. Where's the fun in that? I will be accepting praise and boot-kissing after your birthday.
Ooh. Boots. I'll add that to my list of things to buy over the summer. You can never have too many boots!
We should do this more often. Seriously. Field trips to go shopping? A long line of stuff, stuff, more stuff, movies starring me, getting lost because some people have no sense of direction, going on dates, escaping through the men's bathroom window...
Speaking of which, you would be shocked at how many of those boys squeaked like mice and ran away when I started grinning. Only two of them grinned back.
Now that the end of the year party has passed, I am itching for school to be over. Or for it to start up again. One or the other.
I'm rather enthralled with Vati and Colin's gift to me. It's one of those new Charm bracelets with five attachments - one to help me with the Cheering Charm, one for the Summoning Charm, one for the Banishing Charm, one for the Confundus Charm and one for the Scouring Charm. Not only is it handy, but it looks amazing on me.
Like the hat I've been dying for, which Padma was nice enough to give me.
And everything else I ever put on.
Still, I have them both safely tucked away somewhere since such magnificent accessories should only be worn when the wear-ee is in the best of moods, and I'm only moderately bouncy. There's no point in being truly happy unless all your friends are happy with you. I just... wish everyone could be happy.
Heavens! Last night was the most fun I've had in ages. I was one of the few who kept my shirt on, though, as I had to leave the party before engaging in any activities that would require me to take it off. There were a lot of fit specimens walking around shirtless, though. That was more than worth it.
I had to miss, apparently, seeing Pansy and Harry wrestle in mud like two pigs in heat, as I've heard it described, which is truly a shame, but friends always come first in my eyes and I had a delightful time cheering Padma up. A little chocolate and skanky magazine articles go a long way.
And I am so happy for Neville, I can't even put it into words. I do wish he'd done better than Justin, though, but what can I do? They're my friends, not my puppets.
I still have yet to open my presents, though. I've had far too much to do. Perhaps later.
Common room's all clean now. I wonder if anybody I know actually went to classes.
